SCAN sponsors an extensive array of summer activities.

We conduct comprehensive day camps at our two major program facilities in East Harlem (LaGuardia Memorial House) and the South Bronx (Mullaly Park), servicing 300 day campers ranging in age from 6-12 years.

Day camp life is fun and varied (swimming, tennis, creative arts, museum visits, literacy, computer workshops, basketball, tai chi, track and field, soccer, you name it...we have it!) all infused with a whole language theme-based literacy backdrop.

For example, campers returning from a visit to the Holocaust Museum or the Museum of Modern Art will routinely write diary entries describing their experiences.

Summer is also a time for fun-filled family outings. SCAN families may journey to Rye Beach, enjoy a Family Camping weekend, visit the Bronx Zoo, or visit a museum.

Each summer, SCAN sponsors a massive SCAN Mullaly Park Olympics, bringing together 600 to 700 parents and children in a festive day of track and field events, dancing, barbecuing and more.
