![]() SCAN's award winning "Reach for the Stars" upward bound program engages our "highest risk" young people in an ever broadening array of positive career and college-focused activities. We do not counsel our young people to merely "stay in school" or "keep off drugs." Rather, we encourage our boys and girls to literally "Reach for the Stars" through esteem-enhancing, motivational activities such as a Saturday Learning Academy, SAT Classes, Creative Writing, Black College Tours, a Prep School Tour, Corporate Shadowing, Rap Groups and Parent Involvement.
Our bottom line...a 1997 Choate Honors Graduate, a former Prep School President and 1999 Columbia University Honors graduate, a 1999 Smith College Freshman, a St. John's Law School student on full scholarship! Weslyan, Trinity, Morehouse, NYU and North Carolina are but a few of the colleges at which our "stars" are matriculating.
By overcoming domestic violence, homelessness, foster care and a decaying public school system, our "stars" truly personify "Yes, I Can!" |
